Are You Buying Kitchen Equipment For Your Large Family?

by Jonathan Carroll

Before you and your spouse got married, did you already decide that you would have several children? Or, it might be that your marriage is one where both of you brought children to the marriage. No matter the scenario, if you are outfitting a kitchen that will serve the needs of a large family, from selecting a kneader mixer to shopping at a restaurant supply store, here are some ideas that might help you.

Start With A Kneader Mixer - If you are cooking and baking for a large group of people, doesn't it make sense to buy a top-of-the-line kneader mixer? By doing so, your job of making bread dough, cookie dough, and pie dough will be a lot easier for you. The kneader mixer will more than likely come with different tool attachments that will do different jobs. For example, a hook-like tool will be used for making bread dough. There will be a different tool attachment for lighter jobs, like making cookie dough. And, a whipping tool will be perfect for making meringue desserts and puddings.

The great thing about buying a kneader mixer is that it will more than likely cost less than you thought it would. You can probably find a kneader mixer in a color that will complement your kitchen decor. For example, if you have metal furniture that gives your kitchen a contemporary look, you'll probably want a chrome kneader mixer. If you want to add pizzazz to the kitchen, then select red for the color of your kneader mixer.

Head To A Restaurant Supply Store - If you shop at a store that carries restaurant supplies, you'll more than likely find everything you need for a kitchen that serves a large family. Besides the kneader mixer, think of buying things like large cookie sheets and large pots for making soups and stews. The restaurant supply store will probably even carry things like large mixing bowls and measuring cups that offer more measurements than the traditional four-piece measuring cup sets.

Have you ever stayed at a bed-and-breakfast inn? If so, the plates you used more than likely came from a restaurant supply store. Your dishes can have a casual look or a formal look. The same goes for the flatware you select at a restaurant supply store. Think of buying a baker's rack, too. By doing so, you will have a place to store things like your kneader mixer and your baking equipment when they're not in use, yet you'll be able to access them easily.
